Educational Services

I graduated from Cambridge in 2017 and since then have worked in education - both as a teacher and a researcher. I completed my PhD in English and Related Literature, passing with no corrections (the highest possible grade) in 2023 and now work as a freelance writer and research fellow, continuing to explore my passion in English. With over seven years of teaching experience at secondary and undergraduate level, I am very well-practised in helping students maximise their potential and providing inspiring reading list suggestions. During my time in schools, I was in charge of the scholars' programme, providing students across disciplines with stretch, challenge, interview preparation, and personal statement help. I have also provided intensive Easter Revision sessions for many years, and have enjoyed helping students find their passion in English Literature and Language.
I worked in top UK schools for seven years before returning to full-time research in English Literature and Contemporary Culture. I was nominated for a 'Teacher of the Year' award in my very first year of undergraduate teaching at the University of York, and have gone on to teach across literary time periods at University College London. I relish working with undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as secondary students to help boost academic potential. I have extensive experience with students preparing for public examinations, having taught GCSE, IGCSE, IB, and A-Level for many years. I have also performed practice Oxbridge interviews for students at my schools and others in the surrounding areas every year for seven years, and have worked on more personal statements than I can count!
I am a committed and enthusiastic teacher, always keen to help my students achieve their very best.

Private Tutoring - Secondary School - GCSE- Level
I have extensive experience across GCSE/IGCSE English Language and GCSE/IGCSE English Literature syllabi and examinations. I have taught the syllabi of a number of different exam boards and have also worked as an examiner, ensuring I am well-placed to support students with these examinations. I worked on an Easter Revision course for a number of years in which students improved their grade predictions by an average of two grades after working with me. I taught English at GCSE level for nearly ten years at top schools and bring a wealth of experience and pedgogical insight to my tutoring.
Undergraduate Tutoring
I have taught at two Russel Group universities over the last five years, and was nominated for a 'Teacher of the Year' award in my very first year of university teaching. Across all of my university teaching experience, students have consistently praised the clarity of my essay feedback, how I've helped them to improve as writers with clear tips for essay success, and my enthusiasm for the subject and further reading recommendations. If you would like some help with essay structuring, are seeking to refine a dissertation title, or looking for some exam revision and 1:1 feedback, I would be delighted to help you.
Private Tutoring - A-Level/IB
I taught A-Level English Literature, IB Language A: Literature and IB Language A: Language and Literature for nearly ten years in top secondary schools. I also taught on a yearly Easter Revision Course in which students achieved an average of a two grade increase after working with me. I have worked across all examination boards for A-Level English Literature in the UK, and have taught a wide array of set texts and coursework topics. Similarly, I am very familiar with both Higher and Standard Level for IB. Across both qualifications, I have developed a range of essay structures and paragraph scaffolds to help students hit relevant assessment objectives and fulfil marking criteria to help them on their way to exam success. I have particular expertise with helping students to develop their close analysis further and have worked with students on a short-term intensive basis to support extra exam revision, as well as working with students more long-term. I have taught students within traditional education frames, as well as those who were away from school with chronic illness.
Postgraduate Assistance
I always enjoy working with students, post-docs, and early career researchers across a range of activities. I have helped to finesse masters proposals, provided suggestions for further reading, helped to explain complex theory and criticism, and proofread dissertations. However I can help you, from selecting a Masters course to writing a fellowship application, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
University Applications and Personal Statement Review
As both a teacher and a lecturer, I am exceptionally well-placed to help students with university application and personal statements. I have a keen understanding of 'what universities want' and a compassionate appreciation of how daunting this process can feel to busy final-year students. Whether you are seeking someone to help you understand which course might be best for you, looking to further your reading and subject knowledge, or simply looking for someone to proofread your personal statement - I would love to help. I have worked on personal statements across all disciplines, from biology to business, engineering to education studies, literature to Latin. For further reading and pre-university subject push, I limit myself to arts and humanities subjects.
